• I spent a lot of time down on King Street window shopping, shooting pool and riding around my campus at the College of Charleston. Usually at night or on Sundays I would ride around the battery and the large, stately homes of times gone by where the women could watch the bay for their sailors to come home. The battery was a good place to park too!! We had some good times at the gardens and plantations in the area. Mostly we rode around and went to the beaches, Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, or Folly Beach. One of the shopping experiences that never got old was Gift baskets, Chocolate Gift Baskets

• We were always looking for old furniture that we could get cheap. Now you can shop at places like
• Sullivan's Island's rich history and beautiful beaches draw visitors from all over the country each year. The island was originally used as a defense point for early settlers of the Charleston area and later as a refuge for city dwellers from the summer heat. The island also inspired Edgar Allan Poe's story "The Gold Bug."  I spent a lot of time playing around and in the Fort Moultrie compound too.
• Like everyone else I think back to school days and wonder what happened to my ball player friends and my school buddies, and, of course, my heart-pounding best dates. Where are these people now 
• Nowadays I find myself thinking about all the current technology, the gadgets and all the things that we could not have imagined being available back in the day. Then I start thinking about saving the planet and recycling  Recycled Products

Back to my ramblings on growing up in Charleston.

I bought a 1965 Mustang, a fastback hi-performance 289 with 271 horsepower. My girlfriend loved it. Her name became part of the car, Mustang Sally! When the song started to get popular there was no doubt that the song would be with me the rest of my life. I knew I should have kept them/it. However, I also had a Chevelle SS, another Mustang GT, a Celica GT, a Cougar RX7, and a T-bird over the years since then. The only one I hung onto is my 1995 Firebird Formula. It still excites when I take the t-top glass off and get onto a nice road. Though I have never had a problem it is nice to know there are places that I can count on to get parts if needed, such as:

  The Mustang is still strong....               

We all had times when we just had to have some boots.
